I used to work at the Houston Post. A photographer came in one afternoon who had just covered a terrible auto accident. He described the accicent to me and I felt so sorry for him. I went home that night and saw on the news that it was Parker in the wreck. That memory has always been with me. Rest well Parker. We will miss having you with us.
Parker died in a traffic accident in the summer of 1974 on Loop 610. He was so excited about starting at UT that year and had worked really hard to make it happen. Parker was a wonderful brother-in-law -- he was so kind and caring. He loved all things Texas, especially the music (Waylon, Willie, Jerry Jeff) and of course UT.
