Dalton Whitt Obituary

James Dalton Whitt, 68, passed away on December 16, 2020 at his home after a brief and courageous battle with brain cancer. Dalton is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Mary Ann, his devoted sons, Austin Whitt and Logan Whitt, a special nephew/business associate, Anthony Robinson, good friends and neighbors Don and Harpie Montague, many relatives and numerous friends in the Houston and Hill Country areas. Being a proud Texan and born in Abilene, Texas on August 31, 1952, he grew up in Houston and graduated from Spring Woods High School. He eventually ended up in the Sugar Land area to raise his family before retiring to the Hill Country. He spent his retirement years flying airplanes, building his dirt airstrip, airplane hangar and forever ranch home with his wife. Dalton was a dedicated father. He worked tirelessly for his children to give them a wonderful upbringing in Sugar Land. He loved family gatherings, target practice with his sons at his gun range, as well as scuba trips, snow skiing and sailing. He loved over-the-top Christmas decorations and sweets. Dalton was a successful, dedicated, hardworking businessman and business owner. He was the type of person who could build or fix anything and had an amazing capacity for learning new skills and excelling in them. It did not matter if it was a weekday or weekend, blazing hot or frigid cold, Dalton had to be doing something productive whether it was building a 2,500 sq. ft. garden for his wife, an over engineered critter-proof chicken coop and the deer blind/tree house that will probably never be used by hunters. He was the greatest at everything he did, and he will be missed by everybody who knew him. Dalton is preceded in death by his parents James Arthur Whitt (2005), Ann Barrett Whitt (2013) and his sister Teri Radtke (2019) whom he loved and missed dearly. Although the Whitt family contributes to many charities, the family requests, with gratitude, that memorial contributions in Dalton Whitt’s name be made to a charity of your choice. An informal celebration of his life will be held later this year.
