Still see Tony Gant and his wife Margie (Lister). We go out to dinner with them regularly. We took the Alaska cruise with them in 2004. Their son and our son are best friends and now our grandsons are best buddies and roommates at college. In 2014, we went to Europe with Tony and his wife Margie and saw France, Germany and the Czech Republic.
I worked at Hurricane Fence Company on Old Katy Road and then went to college at SHSU in the fall. The next summer, after by freshman year in college, I went to Oklahoma and worked on a pipeline job as a welder's helper.
Sam Houston State University - B.S. in Law Enforcement/Police Science
My wife and I were foster parents for 18 years. During that time we took care of about 100 children.
- We raised a great son who is now 48 years old.
- After my son finished high school, I bought a motorcycle and have ridden it in all of the continental states except North Dakota, Wisconsin and Michigan.
- We built a barndominium on 76 acres of land in Robertson county and enjoyed it there so much that we sold our house in Katy and moved into it in May of 2017. Love the country living.
In 2024, We had a house built next to the barndominium. The barndo is now used for our son and the grandchildren, and friends when they visit.
- We are still playing our band instruments in a community band. I was president of the Woodland Concert Band for six years and president of the Lone Star Symphonic Band for six years. We also played in a band in College Station.
- No longer playing in the bands. Gave my trombone to a young girl in Franklin, Texas who is now playing it at Franklin High School.

Your place in the Blue Ridge Mountains looks great. I've ridden up there on my motorcycle a few times. Stayed (camped) at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds near Hiawassee, GA. What a beautiful place. I've also stayed at the Fontana Village Resort Hotel while riding the Tail of the Dragon and other roads in the area at Deal's Gap. What a beautiful place for retirement.

My wife (Glenda Self Hendrickson - SWHS class of '72), and I have been married since August 1973, so 50 years and counting. We live in the country outside of New Baden, TX. We have one son and two wonderful grandchildren. I worked for the Houston Police Department for almost 37 years and when I retired in January of 2011, I was a sergeant in the Robbery Division. Loved my career with the department and a group of us still get together for breakfast once a month.
We are now enjoying the retired life. We lived in the Katy area from 1977-2016 and still go back there to see family and friends. Glenda and I love to travel and manage to get way on both long and short trips regularly. This summer I completed one of my bucket list items by finally traveling to all 50 states. I started riding motorcycles in 1999 and have also traveled to all but five of the continental states on my motorcycle. In 2015, we traveled to Europe for the first time and visited France, Germany and the Czech Republic. On that trip, our fellow travelers were Tony Gant (SWHS '71) and his wife Margie Lister Gant (SWHS '72), and Billy Peska (SWHS '70) and his wife Hazel. We all traveled to Alaska together in 1995.
My wife and I started playing with a community band in 1986 (Glenda on flute and oboe and me on trombone). We get together and rehearse once a week and played about five concerts a year. We had to stop when we moved to the country.
We are both enjoying life in the country. We are surrounded by deer, cows, and wild hogs, and the wide-open country. I'm almost finished building a chicken coop that I hope to have chickens in for Spring.
We are active at our Church in New Baden where I'm teaching the senior adult men's small group class. Glenda is also active with the garden club in the area.
Just like most of you, my time growing up in the Spring Branch area and going to Spring Woods High School has left an indelible mark on my life. I love hearing about everyone's life since high school and enjoy seeing many of you on Facebook.
