In September of 1970 at after school practice Coach Tllrt was lecturing the linemen on dedication. "Look at Stokeley here, works his tail off. Never missed a day even during two a days in August. Puts out more than anybody his size ought to be able to. Probably wont never play a down on the field, but still keeps coming after it, workin like a Trojan." He pointed to the cars speeding from the parking lot. " You could be leaving now, probably get you a little part time job, maybe buy you a car, have a girlfriend. Any of you that aint ready to work like Stokeley here, just pick up and head for the field house now." I am not sure who was the most surprised, me or the coach, when up I got and to the field house did trot. After my ribs healed up and the skin grew back in over my knuckles, I knew I had made the right choice. I took Coach's erstwhile advice and got a job sacking groceries, bought a 41 Chevy, and spent more time and efforts trying to impress girls.

Apparently I am the only one in this part of Comal County that gets regular news as all the neighbors are still flying huge tRump flags 10 months after Biden won the election by over 7 million votes. As a Democratic Socialist that considers Bernie conservative I support all the causes you would expect and oppose the causes you would expect. Since second grade when I realized I thought differently and came to different conclusions than a lot of my classmates I have gotten over those few differences.

I completed two 50 mile hikes, one in the Wemenuche Wilderness of Colorado and the other along the Buffalo River of Arkansas.

I was active in Boy Scout activities for several years and served as Scoutmaster of Troop 388 in Pasadena. 12 scouts in our troop reached the rank of Eagle. I earned my Wood Badge in 2001

Currently living in Canyon Lake Texas with wife Lynne Aston Stickley who I met at Baylor. Lynne has retired after 35 years teaching in Deer Park TX. Son David (UT) (Marshall Ketchum PH) and daughter in law Marlow (Texas State) are living in Rutherford NJ
Daughter Robyn (Baylor)and son in law Ryan LaBouve (OU) are
living in Norman Ok.
